Galway Bridge Centre
About Us
Galway Bridge Centre, on St. Mary's Road in the centre of Galway city, has been the major focus of the city's 1,000-strong bridge-playing community since its construction in 1979. There are 8 clubs which use the Centre as their home base, and many regional competitions are also held here under the auspices of the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland (CBAI). There are three bridge-playing rooms and we also have a full bar facility. The centre has a stairlift for ease of access to the upper rooms.
Evening Bridge
Bridge is played in the centre on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. In the main season (Sept-May) there are two clubs playing each night, with play starting at 7.30pm. In the summer, there is an open club with a 7.45pm start time. Visitors are welcome to play all year round, although if you do not have a partner it's advisable to contact the centre or the club in which you would like to play.
Morning bridge
This is a very popular social activity, and we have clubs playing in the centre on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting at 9.45am. You do not need to have a partner to play on Tuesday morning - simply come along and introduce yourself. Bridge can be a great way for newcomers to the city to meet people.
The centre has rooms available for hire at certain times. If you are looking for a location for a club, association or a central location in which to run a course, please contact the Secretary.
